Third Indo-Nepal Power Summit begins

KATHMANDU, Sept 23 (PTI): To explore hydro power cooperation between India and Nepal, Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh along with a 60 member delegation will participate in a two day power summit beginning today.
The Third Indo-Nepal Power Summit 2008 will kick off in Kathmandu on September 23 with a view to explore the possibilities of cooperation between Nepal and India to jointly harness hydro power projects that would benefit both the countries.
India's Acting Prime Minister and Home Minister of Nepal Bam Dev Gautam is scheduled to inaugurate the summit which will be participated in by 300 delegates from Nepal and India.
Leading power developers from India including GMR, L & T, Sutlaj JVN, Jindal and IL&FS are taking part in the summit. It is being organised by Nepal government in collaboration of Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industries (N.I.C.C.I.) and Independent Power Producers' Association of Nepal (I.P.P.A.N.) with the support from India's Power Trading Corporation (P.T.C.).
