Those dare to defy DAP will face law: Mannan

Tuesday, 15 June 2010

Those who dare to defy the proposed Detailed Area Plan (DAP), designed for developing Dhaka city, will have to deal with the law, the state minister for housing and public works has declared, a day after realtors opposed the plan, reports bdnews24.com.
"DAP will be implemented at any cost. No obstacles will be considered in implementing it," Abdul Mannan Khan said replying to a reporter's query at his office at the Secretariat.
"The law will take its own course against those trying to create obstacles in implementing the proposed DAP."
On Sunday, Bangladesh Land Developers Associat-ion president and Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, alias Shah Alam, and other real estate developers threatened to defy DAP at a meeting with the government.
An arrogant Sobhan also reprimanded Mannan. In answering a query, he said, "I draw those who planned to kill me to my chest. I don't do any vindictive politics."
Asked if he would ask the prime minister or the speaker to leave out realtor MPs from the parliamentary committee on his ministry, he replied in a poetic tone.
"I build the house of those who have broken my house."
In line with the existing policy, no one with business interest with a ministry can sit on the parliamentary committee of that ministry.
Awami League MP Nasrul Hamid Bipu, who chairs the parliamentary committee on housing ministry, is the current president of REHAB.
