JHENIDAH May 21: Thousands of people under Kotechandpur upazila in Jhenidah have long been suffering as two vitally important union roads here are yet to be made fully pucca.
Dora UP office to Raghunathpur bazar road via Kushna UP bearing ID No. 244423002 is 7.6-kilometer long. It is a very busy road in the area. Only 2.12 kilometre of the road is of Bituminous Carpeting (BC), and the rest is of Herringbone Bond (HBB).
Pachlia bazar, Bokul Auto Rice Mill and Bakul Fish Hatcheries at the first portion, Kushna UP office at the middle and Raghunathpur bazar at the end of the road, are situated. The road has met with the upazila road.
Pachlia bazar to Sharutia bridge ghat road has a total length of 2.75 kilometre bearing ID No. 244424058. There is 2.72 kilometre HBB and 0.03 kilometre earthen of the road. The road is also very important for the inhabitants living in the region.
Primary and high schools, college, auto rice mill, fish hatchery and bazars are situated beside the road. Various types of crops are produced in the areas on both sides of the two roads. Marketing of the produce will become easier, and the cultivators will get fair prices of their yields, if the roads are made fully pucca, locals said.
The auto rice mill and fisheries are now experiencing communication problems. If the roads are made bituminous carpeting, the infrastructures will have good communication facilities resulting in their smooth running. Besides, students of schools and colleges will face less trouble to attend their educational institutions.
If the two roads are made completely pucca, overall development of the areas will be accelerated, said Kotchandpur Upazila Engineer Md. Khairul Alam.
