Thousands throng transport stations to go home

With the Eid drawing near, the pace of people leaving the capital has gained momentum. This was evident Thursday as all transport stations of the city were seen crowded with thousands of homebound people struggling to manage tickets of respective transports to go to villages to celebrate the festival with their relatives.
While visiting Mohakhali, Gabtoli and Sayedabad bus terminals, Kamalapur railway station and Sadarghat launch terminal, it was noticed that most of the passengers had been waiting for hours to get tickets.
Those who were able to purchase tickets were charged almost double despite the government's repeated assurance of taking stern action against the black marketers.
At Kamalapur railway station, hundreds of passengers were seen moving to and fro desperately to find black marketers for tickets.
Meanwhile the shipping ministry has claimed that the homebound people are leaving the capital without facing any trouble, thanks to a number of initiatives they have taken.
