Saturday, 24 November 2007

BENAPOLE, Nov 23: Three Bangladeshi cattle traders were shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on the Putkhali frontier here early Friday. The deceased were identified as Ripon (25), Alauddin (35) of Uttarpara village in Putkhali and Aynal (33) of Narayanpur village. Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) sources said when a group of cattle traders were returning home with cattle from India through the Chara Math border in Putkhali, the BSF personnel of the Angrail camp fired on them, killing the three people on the spot. Other cattle traders, however, managed to escape. BSF members later dragged the bodies into the Indian territory, the sources said. Tension was prevailing along the border following the incident.— UNB
