Three-day exhibition from Aug 6 to promote trade with India

A three-day exhibition titled 'India Invest Trade-2015' will commence August 6 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital, reports UNB.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Abdul Matlub Ahmad on Tuesday announced this at a press conference.
The exhibition will be jointly arranged by FBCCI, Indian High Commission in Dhaka and the Commerce Ministry of India.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu is expected to inaugurate the exhibition while Chief Minister of India's Meghalaya state Dr. Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh and Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran will also attend the opening.
Speaking at the press conference, Matlub Ahmad upheld two demands to stimulate investment in the electrical equipment and electronics product sector: providing 5 percent cash incentives in the sector for three years, and allocating at least one special economic zone for establishing an 'electrical industrial park'.
If the government fulfills these two demands of the business community, they will be able to manufacture advanced technology products which will boost export earnings, the FBCCI president added.
The apex business body of the country believes proper initiatives should be taken to implement 22 economic agreements and the Land Boundary Agreement signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi' s recent visit to Dhaka, to reduce the trade deficit between India and Bangladesh.
A seminar titled 'The India-Bangladesh Business Conclave: The Way Forward' will be held on August 8, the last day of the exhibition where Finance Minister AMA Muhith will be present as the chief guest.
India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) president Mohammad Ali and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) acting president Humayun Rashid were also present at the programme.
