Three-day general holiday announced

The government annou-nced on Sunday a three-day general holiday, and the central bank declared closure of banks, financial institutions and stock markets for the three days, reports UNB.
The government also imposed on Sunday curfew for an indefinite period from 6 pm on Sunday in the capital and some other parts of the country.
Curfew was slapped in Dhaka Metropolitan area and all divisional headquarters, city corporations, municipalities, industrial areas, district and upazila headquarters
The Home Ministry issued a notice in this regard, said senior information officer Md Sharif Mahmud Apu.
The curfew will remain in force until further notice.
Meanwhile, amid widespread violence across the country over Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's one-point demand, the government in an executive order on Sunday announced a three-day general holiday for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain told UNB.
Emergency services including hospitals, medicine, power, gas, water and other services will be out of the purview of the order.
Earlier, the government in an executive order declared general holidays on July 21, 22 and 23. Later, it was extended for one more day on July 24.
Banks, stock markets, and financial institutions will also remain closed for three days beginning from tomorrow (Monday) during the general holiday, Bangladesh Bank (BB) announced.
"Banks and financial institutions will remain closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during the general holidays," said BB Spokesperson Md Mezbaul Haque.
The announcement comes after the government declared an indefinite curfew from 6 pm today (Sunday) in the face of a new wave of violence and deaths of people across the country.
The government announced a curfew for 3 days and a curfew underfit period from 6 pm on Sunday (August 4) in the face of the non-cooperation movement announced by the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.
