Three-day seminar on BD begins at JU tomorrow

A three-day seminar on "Bangladesh at 40: Changes and Challenges" will be held at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan auditorium of Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus from December 9 to 11.
The Business Studies faculty of JU along with media partner "The Financial Express" organized the seminar, former JU Vice Chancellor and also the chief coordinator of the seminar Professor Dr Abdul Bayes said this at a press conference at the faculty yesterday.
Minister of Finance Mr A.M.A Muhith is expected to inaugurate the seminar as chief guest while Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Atiur Rahman and editor of The Financial Express Mr Moazzem Hossain will attend as special guests.
"Identifying the strength and weakness of Bangladesh since liberation and focusing on the ways and means of developing the nation is the first and foremost initiative of the seminar," Professor Bayes said.
The seminar will include nine different sessions including macro economic performance, quality of economic growth and infrastructure and growth, external sectors and economic integration, agriculture and security, population and employment, governance, financial institutions and management and lastly urbanization and environment.
Every day 3 sessions will be held where renowned scholars, economists, business personalities, government and non government office bearers will attend as speakers.
Former adviser to care-taker government Dr Akbar Ali Khan will give a lecture on "The Tapestry of Sense and Non-Sense: First Four Decades in Bangladesh" in the inaugural session while JU VC Professor Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir will address as chairperson.
