Three-day SME Fair begins in city

MIDAS will create a plat form of budding women entrepreneurs to solidify their capacity.

A three-day SME Fair began on Thursday in the city to encourage youth and women entrepreneurs to ahead steadily.
Micro Industries Development Assistance and Services (MIDAS) is organising the MIDAS SME Fair-2024 at its office in the city.
A total of 60 women and youth entrepreneurs are participating in the fair to showcase their clothing, jewelry, handicrafts, foods and other products.
Ali Imam Majumder, Chairman of MIDAS Finance, inaugurated the fair on the 9th floor of MIDAS centre in the city.
MIDAS board of directors Parveen Mahmud, Managing Director of MIDAS M Khairul Bashar and Assistant Managing Director Md Ibrahim Hossain, among others, were present at the time.
Following the inauguration, Ali Imam Majumder told reporters that the main drive of the fair was promoting SME products of women entrepreneurs; enhancing production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.
He said MIDAS would continue to support entrepreneurs to help them grow.
Another director of MIDAS and former chairman of the organization Parveen Mahmud told The Financial Express they would create a platform of budding women entrepreneurs after the fair to strengthen their capacity.
She said MIDAS had been financing and providing training to women entrepreneurs for many years.
Ms Mahmud said though 60 entrepreneurs were there at the fair, many others had to be excluded for the space constraint.
She also said they would award a number of entrepreneurs who performed well.
Parveen Mahmud said MIDAS would train entrepreneurs about emerging technology, environment-friendliness and compliance in the future.
The fair will remain open from 10 am to 9 pm.
