Three-day tea expo begins today

Bangladesh Tea Expo-2018 will begin today (Sunday) with a view to expanding market and promoting tea-related products as well as boosting production with new varieties, reports BSS.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day expo in the city's International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
The Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Tea Board (BTB) are organising the expo.
The first edition of Bangladesh Tea Expo was held on January 12-14 last year where 46 organisations including seven from India participated and over 20,000 people visited the expo.
A seminar on "Career Prospects in Tea Sector" will be held on the second day while another seminar on "Diversification of Tea in Bangladesh" will be on the concluding day.
Three TV talk-shows on Labour Welfare in tea gardens in Bangladesh, Prospect of tea tourism in Bangladesh, and Tea and health will be aired.
Apart from cultural programmes on each day of the expo, mini auction and tea party will be organised.
In this expo, a clone variety (BT-21) of tea will be introduced. In addition, prizes will be distributed in seven categories in the expo for making contributions to the tea sector.
