Three detained with 2.56kg gold at airport

Customs intelligence detained three persons Friday with 2.56 kilogrammes of gold and 10 mobile phone sets at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city, reports BSS.
"We recovered the 2.56-kg gold and 10 mobile sets after searching them from domestic hall area at around 11:00 am.
The estimated cost of the seized gold and sets is Tk 13.3 million (1.33 crore)," an official of Dhaka Custom House Prevention Team told.
The detainees were identified as Aflatun Akhter Mukti, Konika Hossain Jhunu and Saiful Islam.
They were the passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines which was landed at the airport from Muscat via Sylhet, said the officer-in-charge (OC) of airport thana Md Noor-e-Azam Miah.
The customs authority handed over the gold and mobile sets to Airport Police Station. Legal actions have been taken in this regard, the OC said.
