Three men died after drinking excessive alcohol at a city slum in Mohammadpur Thursday afternoon, police said.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mohammadpur Police Station Animesh told the FE that six young men of Jahuri Mohalla Pura Bosti, the slum in the area, took too much alcohol of local brand Sunday night last and went back to their respective homes.
"Later they became sick one after another and got admission at various city clinics and hospitals for treatment," the SI said quoting Zakir, one of the victims.
Zakir has been undergoing treatment at Suhrawardi Hospital since August 17, the following day of drinking.
Zakir identified the five others as Palash, Abul, Zomman, Kamal and Hossain.
Zakir told the police that he was informed about the deaths of Palash, Kamal and Hossain.
