The Dhaka University (DU) authorities handed over three fake candidates to the police Friday, as they tried to appear at the admission test for Ka unit of the university as proxy for others.
The fake examinees are a BUET student and teacher of Excel Coaching Centre in Mirpur Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, a first-year student of Mymenshingh Medical College Md Imam-uz-Zaman and a DU first-year student of Microbiology Department Asaduzzaman Shakil.
DU chief security officer Md Kamrul Islam handed them over to the Shahbag thana police as per the directions of Proctor AK Feroz Ahmed after getting concrete evidence of their fraudulence.
They sat for the admission test by using photographs and certificates of others in expectation of getting money from the genuine candidates for whom they had appeared at the test.
However, the admission test (science faculty) was peacefully held at 59 centres in and around the DU campus. Some 27,908 admission seekers sat for the test against 1,322 seats. Nearly 22 students are vying for each seat.
