Three flood-hit dists' telephone link with Dhaka restored

Dhaka city's telecommunications with three districts of greater Sylhet, including Sylhet city, Habiganj and Sunamganj - has been restored on Tuesday following four days of disruption due to flood-triggered power disconnection to BTCL's telephone exchanges in the three northeastern districts.
A statement of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd or BTCL issued on Tuesday said the restoration of telephone link between the capital and the three districts including the northeastern divisional city was fully completed on Tuesday.
It said Sylhet city's telecommunications with capital Dhaka was restored at 2pm on Sunday (June 19) in an alternative way by setting up power cable and connecting it with power generator installed to feed power to the Sylhet telephone exchange.
Telecommunications with Habiganj was restored also on Sunday (June 19) through Brahmanbaria by an alternative way.
Finally, telecommunications between flood-hit Sunamganj and rest of the country, including the capital was restored on Tuesday (June 21) in an alternative way by sending two power generators to Sunamganj through river way.
