Three jailed for possessing drugs in Sirajganj

A mobile court in Sirajganj has sentenced three people to different terms of rigorous imprisonment for possession of contraband drugs. The convicts were identified as Abdur Razzak, 34, Rana, 31, and Sanowar Hossain, 29, hailing from Sonamukhi Bazar in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj district. All the convicts used to work as auto-rickshaw drivers. The court sentenced Razzak and Rana to 1-year’s imprisonment each and Sanowar to six-month’s jail. Police said the three auto-rickshaw drivers were arrested on Monday evening from Sonamukhi Bazar for keeping and taking illegal drugs. They were produced before the mobile court of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shafiul Islam who handed down the punishment on Tuesday, according to a news agency.
