Three killed, 32 injured in road accidents

Three people were killed and 32 injured in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Munshiganj districts on Monday. Three persons, including a man and his daughter, were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bagan area in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh district in the afternoon. One of the victims was identified as Azizul Islam, 40, marketing manager of Eskayef. Azizul was returning to join his job in Dhaka after Eid vacation. The accident took place when a Mymensingh bound bus from Dhaka collided head on with the private car in which the victims were travelling, at around 4.00pm. Azizul died on the spot, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station. The injured persons including Azizul's daughter about 8, his wife, 30, house maid, 16, and car driver, 30, were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where daughter and house maid succumbed to their injuries, said the OC.

At least 30 people were injured when a Comilla-bound bus from Dhaka turned turtle at Charboushiya village under Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district on Monday afternoon. Highway Sergeant of Gazaria Md. Saiful Islam said the Comilla-bound bus from Dhaka turned turtle when the driver applied a hard break to stop it. Following the accident, highway communication between Dhaka-Chittagong-Comilla, Noakhali-Cox's Bazar, CHT and other areas were disrupted for few hours. The communication was restored after removal of the ill-fated bus from the highway by a wrecker. Local people took the injured passengers to Gazaria-Bhaberchar Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Seriously injured driver and helper were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Pangu Hospital in Dhaka in critical condition, according to a news agency.
