Three more BNP leaders arrested

Law enforcement agencies arrested two more BNP leaders from different parts of the capital on Sunday night and Monday, reports UNB.
Police arrested BNP Vice Chairman Zahiruddin Swapan from Gulshan area and Jubo Dal leader Sabbir Ahmed Dipu from Mohakhali area on Sunday night, BNP chairperson's media wing member Shamsuddin Didar confirmed.
Besides, BNP's Dhaka South City unit Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu was arrested from near BNP's Nayapaltan central office around 5:30 pm on Monday, he added.
Earlier, several BNP leaders including its standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury were arrested from different parts of the capital on Saturday night and Sunday.
"Even though the BNP leaders and workers have no involvement in the anti-quota movement, the BNP leaders and activists are being unfairly arrested and harassed on made-up allegations," BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a statement on Monday.
He strongly condemned and protested the arrest of BNP leaders and workers and demanded their immediate release.
On Friday, police arrested BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and executive committee member and Dhaka District unit member secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhry in connection with street violence.
Nazrul Islam was later produced before a Dhaka court with 2-day remand prayer in a street violence case.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, who was arrested on Friday, was also produced before the same court.
Detective Branch (DB) police arrested BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and the party's Dhaka metropolitan north unit former president Amanullah Aman on Saturday night and Sunday.
