Three more die in suspected measles cases

The health authorities registered three more casualties due to measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours until Friday 8:0 am.
With the new fatalities, the measles-related deaths rose to 750 since mid-March this year. Of the total fatalities, 93 were confirmed cases, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin.
As many as 901 suspected and 128 confirmed measles cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
The total suspected measles infection cases rose to 109,899 and confirmed infection cases to 13,326 since mid March, said DGHS.
In response to a measles outbreak rapidly spreading across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated over 18.47 million children since April.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.
On the other hand, 68 new patients were admitted to hospital with dengue infections with highest 38 reported from Barishal Division.
The caseload rose to 7,815 this year since January with 24 casualties.
