Three members of the same family sustained burns in a fire in the city’s Jurain area on Monday. Firefighters, family sources and locals said a fire broke out at a house in Tulabagicha in Jurain early in the morning. Three people received burn injuries in the fire at their house caused by a gas pipeline explosion. The injured were identified as Khorshed Alam, 40, (received 28 per cent burns) his wife Jahura, 30, (received burns in hand, leg, and face) and their son Tifat, 6 (5 per cent burns). Neighbours rescued them and whicked them off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Mridul, one of the neighbours of the victims at DMCH, said that hearing the scream of the inmates of the house around 2:30am, we rushed to the spot and rescued them. Then we doused the fire before fire firefighters arrived, according to a news agency.
