Saturday, 26 September 2009

FE Report
Three robbers were arrested and two community policemen were injured in separate incidents at Mohammadpur and Uttarkhan in the city early Friday, the police said.
Captain Khaled, an officer of RAB-2 unit, said a patrol team of their unit after being tipped-off raided the playground at Humayun Road at around 12:30am on Friday for arresting a gang of robbers.
"The robbers opened fire sensing the presence of RAB that forced us to retaliate. And three of them were caught in the line of gunfire and injured," he said.
But they (RAB) could not recover any firearm from the spot and the accomplices of the arrested trio managed to leave the place with the firearms used in the gunfight, he added.
Later, the elite force arrested Shakil (21), Rana (27), and Faruq (23) and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Two daggers and a knife were recovered from them.
Two members of the community police, Mohammad Ilyas (35), and Badsha Mia (40), were injured when a gang of burglars hacked them before fleeing to Taltola at Uttarkhan.
The police said the on-duty community policemen intercepted the gang and came up to arrest the criminals. But the miscreants struck at their hands and legs with sharp weapons and left the place, leaving them injured.
Both of them were admitted into the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
No one was arrested in connection with the incident.
