Three ruling party men killed

Miscreants killed three ruling party leaders in separate incidents in Bogra, Sylhet and Chapainawabganj districts on Friday evening. In Bogra, a local leader of Bangabandhu Sainik League, a pro-Awami League organisation, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants at local AL office at Satmatha Temple Road near Zero Point in the district town. Another local AL leader – Sabuj Sowdagar – was also stabbed and injured in the attack. The dead is Shimul Rehan, 35, convener of district Bangabandhu Sainik League. He was also the joint convener of district Battery-run Auto-rickshaw Owners’ Association. In Sylhet, a local Jubo League leader was chopped to death by unidentified miscreants at Katakhal in Companyganj Upazila. The dead is Abdul Ali, 32, son of late Sonahar Ali of Companyganj village. Police and witnesses said a gang of 14-15 miscreants swooped on Abdul Ali in the area on his way home and chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him injured. Abdul Ali was declared dead by the doctor of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 7:30pm. In Chapainawabganj, a gang of unidentified miscreants shot to death Jubo League leader Monirul Islam in front of Shibganj Stadium in Shibganj Upazila headquarters around 7:15pm. Monirul, 30, son of Afzal Hossain of Shialmara village, was also a clearing and forwarding (C&F) agent, according to private TV channels.
