Three to die for killing BDR men in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, Nov 24: A court here Monday convicted three people and sentenced them to death for killing three BDR members in 2004. The convicts are -- Yunus Ali, his younger brother Raju Islam and Raju's friend Raju Hossain. The court also fined Yunus Tk 50,000 and two other convicts Tk 25,000 each. According to prosecution, the convicts stabbed to death three BDR members -- Alamgir, Sujon and Nur Nabi as they resisted some youths, including the three convicts, when they were disturbing two girls at Nischintapur Paschimpara area in the town on February 5, 2004. After examining records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Md Joshon Ali handed down the verdict. — UNB
