A 36-day-old-girl, who was thrown violently onto a bed by her father in Patgram Upazila in Lalmonirhat district on Friday, died at a local hospital on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Habiba Akter Hasi, daughter of Hasibul, 24, of Kisamat Nijjama village in the Upazila. Locals said Hasibul developed a physical relationship with neighbour Selina, 20. At one stage, Selina became pregnant, said Selina’s brother Malek. He said their relationship got deeper and Selina became five months pregnant. As the news spread, neighbours arranged their marriage following an understanding between the two families. Selina gave birth to Hasi at her parents’ house on September 28. Selina came to Hasibul’s house along with Hasi on October 31. However, Hasibul along with her mother Hasina, 43, and brother Amzad, 21, beat Selina and drove her away. As she entered the house again, a furious Hasibul snatched Hasi from Selina and threw her onto the bed violently, according to a news agency.
