Thrust on creating skilled HR to eradicate poverty

RANGPUR, Sept 16 (BSS): There is no alternative to training for turning the unemployed rural women into skilled human resources (HR) to enhance their participation in income generation activities to eradicate poverty by achieving self-reliance, speakers said today.
They said this while distributing certificates among 80 unemployed rural women after completion of month-long training on tailoring science and 'Nakshi Kantha' and eight women on completion of three-month training course on automobile at Fulbari Upazila in Dinajpur.
World Vision Bangladesh (WVB), an NGO, under its Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) arranged the certificate giving ceremony after completion of the training courses by the end of August last.
The NGO organised the training courses in four phases for 88 backward, unemployed extremely poor women, young girls and adolescents of different villages under four Union Parishad (UPs) of Fulbari Upazila to assist them attaining self-reliance through self-employments.
With Acting Manager of Fulbari ADP of WVB Badal Sangma in the chair, Fulbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Moniruzzaman attended the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed certificates among the participants.
Fulbari Upazila Cooperatives Officer Mohammad Abdur Rouf and Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Pallabi Murmu addressed the ceremony as the special guests.
The speakers stressed for skill development of the unemployed rural females through providing training on various trades for involving them with income generation activities in building an economically self-reliant and middle income nation.
They urged the public and private sectors for engaging their adequate contribution in producing skilled workforces to turn every citizen, including rural women, into worthy as the country's population increases creating more unemployment.
