Thrust on curbing price spiral

BOGRA, Nov 13: A discussion meeting of importers, bankers, business community and other professionals of five northern districts of the country was held at Bangladesh Bank, Bogra office Monday.
The main objective of the meeting was to determine method to bring down the prices of essentials to a tolerable level.
General Manager of Bangladesh Bank, Bogra Ataur Rahman presided over the meeting.
Taking part in the discussion, most of the speakers expressed their concern over ban on exports of some essentials by neighbouring India and placed suggestions how it could be overcome.
Local industrialisation and how to develop the businesses in the area were also discussed at the meeting.
Top businessmen of Bogra, Gaibandha, Naogaon, Sirajganj and Joypurhat and regional heads of all nationalised and private banks and managers of authorised dealer (AD) branches took part in the discussion.
Among others, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank Ferdous Hassan and representative of joint forces Major Zahid were present at the meeting.
