Speakers at the inaugural session of a campaign programme in the capital Thursday laid emphasis on social awareness and more involvement of males to eradicate violence against women from the society.
Steps Towards Development organised the 16-day campaign programme 'Violation Against Women' in cooperation with Dhaka University (DU) marking the 'International Violation Agonist Women Protest Day-2011' declared by United Nations.
State Minister for Women and Children affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury said that violence against women couldn't be erased from the society only by enacting laws.
The state minister, addressing the programme as chief guest, underscored the need for more involvement of male persons in such kinds of programmes.
