Thrust on industrialisation for poverty alleviation

BRAHMANBARIA, July 30: Speakers at a seminar emphasised rapid industrialisation, ensuring health care services, spreading of mass education, agricultural development and food security, and generating employment opportunity to ensure poverty alleviation.
They expressed the opinion at a seminar titled "Millennium Development Goal (MDG) and where we are", organised by 'Sushasoner Jonno Procharavijan' (Supra) Brahmanbaria district unit at the Zila Parishad Auditorium Monday.
The speakers at the seminar said, the government activities should be planned with a view to mobilising local resources, and not according to the dictations of the donors. Only then people-oriented programmes can be implemented, and balanced development can be achieved, they added.
Presided over by Mukhlesur Rahman, ex-principal of Brahmanbaria Govt College, the seminar was participated, among others, by Brahmanbaria Municipality Chairman Md Hafizur Rahman Molla Kachi, TIB Brahmanbaria Unit President Abu Taher, and Brahmanbaria Nagorik Committee President Abdus Samad.
Supra Secretary SM Shafiqul Islam gave the welcome address in the function, conducted by Md Babul Akter.
