Leaders of the major Asian forum of cooperative organizations Wednesday suggested that Bangladesh government should improve regulatory frameworks and prevent politicization to make cooperatives truly operative.
'Misconception and politicizations damaged potentials in cooperatives in some countries but cooperatives are most proactive organizations for ensuring sustainable socio-economic development,' said Ranjith Hettiarachchi, Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU).
Ranjith- the Sri Lanka born CEO of the Bangkok-based ACCU- also suggested that Bangladesh government should immediately improve regulatory frameworks for cooperatives with introduction of the stabilization funds, deposit guarantee schemes and liquidity management system, said a press release.
