Thrust on proper functioning of community clinics

RAJSHAHI, Mar 30 (BSS): Speakers at a rally here today called for running the community clinics properly to ensure healthcare service for all, especially for the poor and disadvantaged.
Population Services and Training Centre (PSTC) under its Health Rights Movement (HRM) programme arranged the rally from the Alupotty Crossing with the participation of Civil Surgeon Dr Zahurul Alam, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Fazal and upazila health officers and family planning officers, among others.
Mayor of Rajshahi Citry Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the rally that ended at Bhuban Mohan Park after parading the main thoroughfares.
With HRM committee president Mozammel Haque in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Mayor Liton, Civil Surgeon Dr Zahurul Alam and PSTC Committee Secretary Shahnaj Begum Shikha.
Speakers said getting healthcare service was one of the fundamental rights of all citizens irrespective of religion, caste, creed, age and sex.
They also viewed that healthcare services could not be ensured for the distressed without making the community clinics effective.
They said importance should be given on making the jobs of the service providers, especially the physicians, surgeons and technicians, accountable and transparent so the receivers could get regular services from them smoothly.
