Thrust on removing trade barriers between Dhaka, Jakarta

CHATTOGRAM, June 23: Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina P. Soemarno met with President of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Mahbubul Alam at the CCCI Bhaban in the port city on Saturday.
They exchanged views on business and investment between the two countries, especially bilateral trade and tariff-related barriers during the meeting.
The CCCI president urged the envoy to work for removing some obstacles standing in the ways for expanding businesses between Bangladesh and Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia.
Soemarno observed that there are immense possibilities to increase trade between Dhaka and Jakarta. She also invited Alam to visit Indonesia with a CCCI delegation and join the 34th National Trade Expo which will be held there in October.
Alam thanked the envoy and the Indonesian government for inviting the CCCI to join the exposition.
CCCI Vice President Sayed Jamal Ahamed, former president Engineer Ali Ahamed, second secretaries of Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka Aidil Khairunsyah and Eka Wiediyantiningsih, and third secretary Murni Nyaristi were also present during the meeting, among others.
