Thrust on secure online banking

Country`s banking sector should take measures to aware its customers on secure online banking, said officials of the CTO Forum at a workshop on Saturday.
They said this is the transition period for the banking sector as it is transforming from traditional banking system to online banking.  In this time, both service providers and receivers need to be aware in this regard.
CTO Forum, a trade body of the technology officers of the different government and non-government institutions, organised the workshop on "Online Banking Security Aspects and Awareness of Stakeholders" for the IT journalists at its office Saturday.
They mentioned that business activities based on information technology are increasing rapidly across the world. So we have to cope up with the trend.
In Bangladesh, almost all banks have introduced online banking service, but so far it is limited to institutional level. They hoped that it will get popularity at personal banking soon.
President CTO Forum Bangladesh Tapan Kanti Sarkar said transformation from traditional to online banking has been a leap change in banking industry. The online banking system will address several emerging trends, customer demand for anywhere, anytime service what accepted by the consumer positively.
He said they organised the event to aware the mass people of the country about the utility of this service along with the risk.
He mentioned that "This kind of interactive session enhenced our knowledge what help both to be accountable as service provider and help media to perform their responsibility to aware the mass people".
During the workshop the experts from different financial institutes, shared their experience and aspect of Online Banking Security to the participants. A number of ICT  journalists from different media participated at the workshop and discussed the different security issues of online transaction.
Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Airtel Bangladesh Lutfor Rahman presented a keynote paper at the workshop where the office bearers of the organization Nawed Iqbal, Syed Masodul Bari, Dr. Ijazul Haque and Mr. Debdulal Roy were present.
