Thursday, 8 December 2011

Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Abdul Latif Biswas Wednesday emphasised quick extension of fisheries and livestock technologies in order to make those popular among the farmers, reports BSS. He called for a proper use of the newly invented technologies to increase the livestock production of the country. The Minister made the appeal while speaking as the chief guest at a technology handover ceremony at CIRDAP auditorium in the city Wednesday. Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) recently invented a number of technologies. The Minister asked the concerned ministry official and the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) to issue a circular up to the upazila level so that the people could be acquainted with those. Using the technology, the BLRI invented a layer species of chicken named 'Shubhra', which can give 280-295 eggs annually. They also invented two types of cattle feeds- Minamix feed premix and corn-straw palette feed. Secretary of the Ministry Uzzal Bikash Datta and director (Admin) of the DLS Dr Mosaddeque Hossain attended the programme as the special guest while joint secretary of the ministry Mosharraf Hossain presided over the function. The programme addressed, among others, by the director general of the BLRI Dr Khan Shahidul Haque, programme chief of BRAC Manik Lal Samaddar and other high officials of the ministry. The minister handed over the technology to the DLS and different private organisations including the BRAC.
