The Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has urged the government, political leaders and members of the civic society to initiate effective and long term steps to uproot corruption from the society. The call came during the annual meeting of TIB at its Dhanmondi office on Saturday. TIB members said that it is possible to raise awareness among the people against corruption if the TIB and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) work together. Addressing the meeting, TIB Trustee M Hafiz Uddin Khan said, “People’s expectation from the TIB is high…we have to take forward the social movement against corruption by involving the young generation in it.” The TIB also expressed over the country’s prevailing crisis of democracy, forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, according to a news agency.
