TIB seeks budgetary allocations for climate adaptation

Monday, 23 June 2014

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has urged the government to provide budgetary allocation for climate change adaptation in fiscal 2014-15 to facilitate the efforts to cope with the adverse impacts of global warming.
In a statement Monday, TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said the government has set an example at national and international arenas by providing budgetary allocations for the BCCTF in last four fiscal years, according to a news agency.
“These allocations have also paved a rational way to get funds from Annex-1 countries to Bangladesh Climate Change Resilience Fund (BCCRF),” he said.
He said there is no alternative to providing allocation to the BCCTF to carry out adaptation programme in the country as per the Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan (BCCTAP).
