TIB worried over ACC chief\\\'s political act
FE Report | Monday, 3 February 2014
The Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has expressed concern over the inauguration of a project and participation in a political programme of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman M Badiuzzaman.
Terming such activities to be against the spirit of the anti-graft watchdog, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman, in a statement Sunday, urged the ACC high-ups to refrain from taking part in such kinds of work.
"Inauguration of a culvert and participation in a political programme by the ACC chief will obstruct the freedom and image of the commission," he said.
Media reports said that the ACC chairman inaugurated two culverts in Lakshmipur upazila and participated in a political programme on February 1.
The TIB statement said it is forbidden for the ACC top officials to join any programme like this.
