Tidal surge likely to inundate coastal dists

Tuesday, 9 September 2014

The low-lying areas of the coastal districts and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal surge of one to two feet height above normal astronomical tide under the influence of a well-marked low and full moon phases, reports UNB.
The districts are Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Barguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirojpur, Jhalakati, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands.
The well-marked low over Orissa and adjoining area moved west-northwards and now lies over Orissa and adjoining Madhya Pradesh, said a Met Office special bulletin.
It said squally weather may affect the North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports as steep pressure gradient lies over the North Bay under the influence of the low.
