Tigers against India in ODIs
Wednesday, 17 June 2015
Rain prevented the only Test between Bangladesh and India from producing a possible result. More than half the duration of the match was washed away by rain and no play was possible. The Indian team which must be cursing its luck, was in a better position to win the match. We all hope that the Tigers will re-group themselves and play better cricket in the one-dayers. Above everything else the batsmen should display better temperament. But the Tigers should not forget that in the ultimate analysis, Test matches are the main determinants of the standard of cricket played by a team.
The Bangladesh Cricket Control Board should therefore put more emphasis on the longer version of cricket. Without making progress in Test cricket, we cannot be reckoned as a power in world cricket. Rain has played the spoilsports in the Test match and I hope in the one-day matches we shall not see interruptions by rain. All three one-day matches will be played in Dhaka and it will be a great opportunity for the sports-loving people of the capital to watch their favourite players in action. India is very careful about not taking the Tigers lightly as they have seen their arch rival Pakistan being outplayed by the hosts. I hope the Tigers will play their best and bring some much anticipated glory against their more illustrious opponents, India. Best of luck to Mashrafee and Co.!
