Tigers’ highest score despite six batters' duck

Wednesday, 25 May 2022

Bangladesh created more records in their second Test against Sri Lanka. The Tigers posted 365 in the first innings, which was the highest total in an innings in which six batters got duck, report agencies.
The record belonged to India which registered just 152 despite the 0 from six batters earlier against England in Old Trafford in 2014.
It was not the first time that Bangladesh experienced such dismal situation as the team saw six batters got out for naught against West Indies in Dhaka in 2002.
Pakistan scored 128, South Africa made 105, Bangladesh itself scored 87 against West Indies and New Zealand were all out for 90 in an innings with six ducks earlier.
Bangladesh's 365 against Sri Lanka with six ducks is also the highest even if the first class cricket is counted with Sussex posting 308 against Derbyshire.
For Bangladesh, openers Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Syed Khaled Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain failed to score any runs.
Meanwhile, the Mushfi-qur Rahim-Litton Das partnership of 272 is Bangladesh's first-ever double-century stand for the sixth or lower wicket in Test cricket. The previous best was 191 between Moham-mad Ashraful and Mushfiqur for the sixth wicket against Sri Lanka in 2007. The 272-run stand is also the third-highest for Bangladesh in Test cricket for any wicket.
Mushfiqur Rahim who showed an unwavering resolve smote 21 boundaries for his 175.
