Tigers look to fine-tune their prep for T20I World Cup

Face Ireland in three-match series opener today

Thursday, 27 November 2025

Bangladesh will look to start their T20 series on a winning note as they face Ireland in the opening game of the three-match series today (Thursday) at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, reports BSS.
The match is scheduled to begin at 6pm and will be broadcast live on T- sports.
This series will be Bangladesh's final international assignment ahead of next year's T20 World Cup, unless the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranges additional fixtures. Bangladesh comes into the series on the back of a dominant 2-0 Test series win over Ireland and will start as favorites in the T20 format as well.

Despite their recent 3-0 whitewash at the hands of the West Indies in their last T20 series at home, Bangladesh's track record against Ireland in this format is strong. The two teams have met eight times in T20s, with Bangladesh winning five, losing two, and one match ending in a no result. The last time Ireland toured Bangladesh for a T20 series was just two years ago, where they managed to avoid a series sweep by winning the final match, which ended 2-1 in Bangladesh's favor.
That victory in their most recent meeting could provide Ireland with some motivation heading into this series. However, for both teams, the primary focus will be preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
While Bangladesh will be aiming for a series win to fine-tune their squad, the series offers valuable exposure for Ireland in subcontinent conditions ahead of global events.
Bangladesh comes into this series after playing 27 T20 matches this year -making it their busiest year in the format. They will be without their key fast bowler, Taskin Ahmed, who has been granted an NOC (No Objection Certificate) by the BCB to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 league until November 30.
The BCB has left out Shamim Patwari from the squad, with Mahidul Islam Ankon being called up for his first T20 appearance.
Squads: Bangladesh: Litton Das (Captain), Saif Hassan (Vice Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam and Saifuddin
