Bangladesh were 223 for five wickets in 85.2 overs in the first innings of their first Test against South Africa in Chittagong on Thursday. South Africa folded their first innings for 248 on Tuesday, the first day of the five-day match which is scheduled to end on Saturday. Bangladesh now trail the visitors by 25 runs with five wickets remaining in the 1st innings. Resuming on overnight score of 189 for four, Bangladesh quickly lost a wicket when the play restarted at 9:30am at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan resumed their batting on the Day 3 morning with the primary intention to pursue the first innings deficit against the visitors. The home side restarted their first innings at 189/4 when Mushfiqur was playing on 24 and Shakib on 3, according to a news agency.
