Tigers meet Zimbabwe in third ODI today
Wednesday, 26 November 2014
Bangladesh will face Zimbabwe today (Wednesday) in their third match of the five-match Bashundhara Cement One Day International (ODI) series, having the advantage of a 2-0 lead, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city, reports UNB.
The day-night match will begin at 12:30 pm. Satellite channel Gazi TV will telecast the match live.
Bangladesh and Zimbabwe teams practised Tuesday at the SBNS, Mirpur ahead of their third ODI battle.
Bangladesh dropped pacer Al-Amin Hossain from the 3rd ODI to have a look at Shafiul Islam who was released to play in the Dhaka Premier League for Abahani.
Zimbabwe persisted with the same line-up for the first two ODIs, but there could be places up for grabs in the crunch match. They may surprise Bangladesh with Timycen Maruma or Peter Moor in the 3rd ODI.
Meanwhile, in taking the 2-0 lead in the five-match series, Bangladesh beat visiting Zimbabwe by 68 runs in the second ODI, thanks to a bowling storm of Arafat Sunny and skipper Mashrafe Mortaza the at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday (Nov 23).
Tigers won the first match by 87 runs, the first victory in 2014 that came in their 14th attempt, at the same venue on November 21 to break the deadlock of win with an all-round performance by Shakib Al Hasan who made, first in four years, his sixth ODI century along with a four-wicket haul amid a nightmare for the visitors.
Bangladesh still has the opportunity for their ranking points in the 5-match ODI series.
A 5-0 series win for Bangladesh will open up a 22-point gap over Zimbabwe, while a 4-1 score line will give a lead of 17 points. A 3-2 series win will see host Bangladesh retain a nine-point advantage.
