Tigers move closer to whitewash mark

Tigers beat Zimbabwe by 21 runs in the fourth game of the five-match Bashundhara Cement ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday to move close to whitewashing the visiting team, reports UNB.
Bangladesh is now leading the five-match series 4-0 against Zimbabwe.
In reply to Bangladesh's 256 runs for eight, the touring team finished on 235 runs for eight wickets in the stipulated overs.
For Zimbabwe, Brendan Taylor scored the team's highest 63 runs off 69 deliveries with seven fours while Solomon Mire contributed 52 runs facing 54 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.
With this, Bangladesh is now 17 rating points ahead of Zimbabwe in the ODI rankings and if they can beat the touring side in the last and final match of the series at the same venue on December 1, the difference will jump to 22.
The visitors started well as their opening pair scored 48 runs for 1 in 10.1 overs.
All rounder Shakib Al Hasan made the breakthrough for Bangladesh trapping leg before opening batsman Vusi Sibanda (17) and later he bowled another opener Hamilton Masakadza (28) at 51 for 2 in 12.2 overs.
Debutant leg spinner Jubair Hossain who was named in place of Arafat Sunny took the third wicket of Timycen Maruma (6) while the scoreboard was showing 60 for 3 in 16.5 overs.
In the 4th wicket stand, Brendan Taylor pairing with Solomon Mire tried their best to overcome the pressure contributing 106 runs in 17 overs, before Mire was caught by Mahmudullah off a Jubair Hossain delivery at 166 in 33.5 overs.
Taylor was caught by Mushfiqur Rahim off a Rubel Hossain ball at 172 for 5 in 35 overs. Rubel later took number six Regis Chakabva (26) with the help of Jubair Hossain.
In the meantime, Mire made his second ODI half-century, both against Bangladesh, scoring 52 runs off 54 balls with six fours and two sixes.
