Bangladesh Cricket Team returned home from Australia Sunday evening after a successful mission in the ICC Cricket World Cup amid warm reception by tumultuous adoring Bangladeshis cricket fans at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports UNB.
Cricket fans carrying national flags, colourful banners and festoons were waiting and chanting slogans before their arrival at the airport to welcome the Royal Bengal Tigers.
Addressing the pressmen at the airport, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza thanked the countrymen for their all-out support, saying, "Whatever we (cricketers) did, we did it for the countrymen." "We gained valuable experiences from the World Cup which will help us in the future," he said attributing the success to the good team work.
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan and Anamul Hoque returned home Saturday night.
A grand reception will be accorded to the Tigers soon by the Bangladesh Cricket Board after BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon returns home from Australia.
The Tigers created history in the world sports extravaganza reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in the World Cup history with seven points in the group stage after packing one of the 'big threes' England by 15 runs at Adelaide Oval on March 9.
