Bangladesh threw a target of 314 to Zimbabwe as the Tigers managed to score 248 for 9 wickets in their 2nd innings in the 2nd Test in Khulna on Friday afternoon. In the morning, Bangladesh, resuming on their overnight score of 201/5, lost the wicket of Mahmudullah Riad, who scored 71 off 158 deliveries before giving a catch to Masakadza off M’shangwe while Shuvagata Hom made a his maiden 50. They helped Tigers to cross the lead to 300 after a slide in middle order on Thursday – the 4th day. Yesterday, opener Tamim Iqbal had given the Tigers a breezy start, looking more the dasher of old than the grafter witnessed in the first innings here, dispatching four flashy boundaries, including two in a row off Tinashe Panyangara. But off the very next ball, Panyangara out-thought the impulsive Bangladeshi opener to have him lunging at one that was held back slightly, and brilliantly caught the return off his own bowling. Tamim’s opening partner Shamsur Rahman also hit four boundaries, but his 23 off 71 balls was more critical than Tamim’s 20. Shamsur was caught by Waller, who triggered the failure of the home sides’ middle-order with his zippy off-spin, taking four of the wickets to fall, according to a news agency.
