Tigers triumph in 1st T20

Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by four wickets in the first Twenty20 match of the four-match series in Khulna city on Friday evening.

Brief scores: Zimbabwe 163/7 v Bangladesh 166/6 (18.4/20 ov) Bangladesh won by 4 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)

Zimbabwe captain Chigumbura won the toss and elected to bat in the match that started at 3:00pm (Bangladesh time) at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium. The visitors scored 163 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20-over quota, setting the Tigers 164-run to win. H Masakadza made 79-run while V Sibanda and MN Waller scored 46 and 14 respectively.

Al-Amin Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan picked up two wickets each. Sabbir Rahman topscored for Bangladesh with 46, followed by Tamim Iqbal 29 and Mushfiqur Rahim 26. Tourists’ Gharham Cremer took two wickets conceding 32 runs, according to a news agency.
