Tigresses beat Pakistan in T20 Asia Cup

Tuesday, 5 June 2018

The Bangladesh women's cricket team have broken its recent streak of defeats with a stellar performance against Pakistan, reports bdnews24.com.
The team won their second match in the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup 2018 by seven wickets at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Monday.
After restricting Pakistan to 95 runs, Bangladesh won the match with 13 balls to spare.
Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka by 64 runs in the opening match.
Smart bowling from Bangladesh meant Pakistan never gained sufficient momentum in the first innings. Wickets fell steadily and, in the 14th over, the team stood at 57-5.
But an undefeated 21 from experienced Sana Mir took Pakistan close to a hundred.
Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter was the best of Bangladesh's attack, ending with 2/23.
Despite the low total, Bangladesh's recent batting performances suggested there was cause for worry. The quick dismissals of Ayasha Rahman and Fargana Hoque only added to the concern.
But Shamima Sultana, with 31 off 33 balls, and Nigar Sultana, with an unbeaten 31 from 35, steadied the innings. Fahima Khatun stepped to the crease after Sultana was dismissed in the 13th over and saw her team home with an unbeaten 23 off 19 balls.
Bangladesh will face India in its next match, while Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka.
Khatun, who had also picked up 1-18 with the ball, was declared Player of the Match.
