Tigresses take on SA to stay alive for WC semifinal
Monday, 13 October 2025
In a bid to keep their semifinal hope alive, Bangladesh Women's team take on South Africa in their fourth game of the ICC Cricket World Cup at Vishakhapatnam in India today (Monday), reports BSS.
The match will start at 3.30pm (Bangladesh Time).
Bangladesh won their first game against Pakistan before losing to England and New Zealand in the last two matches.
If the luck favours them to some extent, Bangladesh would have won the game against England too but their performance against New Zealand was ridiculous.
Especially the batting was reckless, scripting the side's 100-run defeat.
With two points, Bangladesh are now in sixth spot in the point table, led by England which won all three matches so far. South Africa, the opponents of Bangladesh in the next game, put them in the fourth spot, following their victory against India in the last match.
The Proteas Women's team, therefore, will start the match, high on confidence against Bangladesh.
But Bangladesh have the experience of beating South Africa in the past. The two sides have met 21 times in the ODI format with Bangladesh winning just three. The two teams played a three-match ODI series in the South African den last year. Bangladesh though lost the series, they were able to beat South Africa on their own backyard in a match before conceding the series 2-1. With their performance, apart from the match against New Zealand, already creating a buzz, Bangladesh still believes they can beat South Africa once again to stay alive for the semi-final race.
