BARISAL, Nov 14 (UNB): Time limit of the weeklong pilot project started from November 1 to develop service at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSBMCH) has been extended by two more weeks.
This decision was taken at a meeting at SBMCH Monday afternoon with Divisional Commissioner M Harun Chowdhury in the chair following the request of the patients, hospital authority and the elite of the city.
The pilot project is being conducted to ensure health service at BSBMCH and achieved success in controlling rush of visitors and attendants by introducing purchasing visitor and attendant cards, banning entrance of medical representatives and illegal trespassers, stopping absence by doctors and staff and developing health, sanitation and treatment standards.
SBMCH Director Maniruzzaman Mia said necessary measures have been taken for the extended second phase in giving proper service and maintaining discipline and healthy atmosphere in the hospital.
Asked about possibilities and capacities to complete clinical and pathological tests, the SBMCH Director said, "We cannot assure cent per cent clinical and pathological service due to shortage of manpower, equipment, chemicals and laboratory facilities."
