Time to beat the heat

SUMMER is knocking the door. Mercury is moving steadily upward although it's still spring time. Beating Dhaka's searing summer heat would be of utmost importance for one and all. For the affluent summer is the time to loosen-up the purse strings to opt for air-conditioners.
A variety of air-conditioners and air-coolers are available in the market to cater to a diverse section of buyers. There is no dearth of high-class showrooms in the capital city and in other big cities. And if money is there, all world famous brands like Singer, Samsung, Haer, Cooline, Carrier, General, Gree, etc.
Cheap Chinese products are also available. But one hears the argument, since buying air-conditioners mean long-time investment, why waste funds. Reasonable price together with payment in installments increases overall sales of air-conditioners.
Typically, a large showroom dealing in different brands sells 40 air-conditioners a day in the city during the summer. The buyer, however, needs to know that there's no 'resale' value of air-conditioners.
With times, even the tastes of buyers are changing. A year-back, window air-conditioners rules the market. However, these days, split air-conditioners are more on demand. The difference in prices between the split and the window types has also diminished, making it affordable.
Besides, the split type is less noisy and more effective in uniform distribution of the cool-air across the room. The split type's compressor remains concealed outside making negligible noise.
Some air-conditioners can adjust the ambient between temperature inside and outside the room.
At night, these machines put on 'sleep' mode, can regulate 'temperature' on their own.
As pricing depends on capacity a buyer has to make a judicious decision while buying one. The size of the room decides the airconditioner-capacity needed.
Modern technology brought features like digital locking to prevent tampering or misuse, filters to prevent growth of bacteria in the machine itself. Some hi-tech machines can give germ-free cool air and prevents odour.
