Titas gas affairs
Tuesday, 1 September 2015
As a small flat owner at Uttara Model Town, I have been regularly paying Titas gas bills for the last seven years, but till date I have not received any "No demand" certificate. This is difficult to accept for the sake of accountability and good governance.
Moreover, so long I had been collecting Titas gas bill books from the counter of the bill receiving bank, but now one has to collect the bill books from Badda for Uttara. Ideally, the bill books should be made available from banks free of charge or on payment of a nominal value. Alternatively, bill books may be sold at all stores like any other commercial item, such as, 'House rent receipt' books.
Finance Minster declared the other day that henceforth no new gas connection will be given, but one could watch on television that thousands of illegal gas connections are being given in exchange of money with the assistance of influential people.
It is indeed difficult to accept such immoral activities and I would request the government to deal with the criminals involved ruthlessly and bring back discipline in the affairs of gas supply to households.
